This collection contains selected papers from the 6^th International Conference on Education and Social Science Research (ICESRE) held in Semarang, Indonesia, on 5 October 2023. This event was hosted by Institute of Research and Community Service at Universitas PGRI Semarang.

The conference provided a forum for scholars and practitioners in the fields of education and social sciences to discuss the theoretical and practical implications of digitalising education and its impact on the learning and welfare of students in Industry 4.0.

This KnE Social Sciences collection contains 68 peer-review articles that reflect on the role that technology plays inside and outside of the classroom. Technology has become an essential aspect of young peoples’ lives, whether in the early stages of education or nearing the end of their academic careers. With initiatives like the Metaverse leading us into a future where the very essence of social engagement may become digitalised, some researchers in this collection look to explore the impact that said technologies could have on the emotional and mental wellbeing of students, as well as their relationship to the world. Scholars also explore the different ways that technologies such as AI and social media could increase student awareness of issues like climate change, gender equality, and localised small business support.

These papers will be of interest to academics, students or professionals researching or working on education, language and literature, economics and business, management, psychology, sociology, law, STEM Education, technology for teaching and learning, information technology, and other topics relates to social science.
