The conference was organised by the Department of Cultural Studies and Socio-Cultural Activities (Ural Institute of Humanities of the Ural Federal University) and the Ural Branch of Russian Research and Educational Society of Cultural Studies with an aim of bringing together scholars from Russia, Belarus, Hungary, Kazakhstan, China, Columbia, and Mexico. This wide geographical and disciplinary diversity allowed it to establish a multicultural and interdisciplinary dialogue on the proposed range of topics. The conference papers reflect this diversity: they discuss both historical and current approaches to cultural research and explore a wide range of approaches to the analysis, exploration, and research in cultural phenomena, as well as the practical-oriented research and recommendations in fields such as art, education, and socio-cultural activities. The materials of the conference will be of interest to the scholars working in cultural research, art history, sociology and philosophy of culture, as well as for the practicing professionals in education and socio-cultural field and for the wider audience interested in these issues.
Conference topics: The new horizons of cultural research; the transformation of cultural values under the conditions of the information age; the challenges of digital technologies in the sphere of culture and education; cultural dialogues and polylogues in history and in present era; the new types of sociocultural activity and their practical implementation; the new forms of education required in Russia under the current conditions of sociocultural modernization; urban cultural space and its development.
