This collection contains selected papers from the International Conference Transdisciplinary Paradigm on Islamic Knowledge (ICONIK 2020) held in Kendari, Indonesia on the 7th and 8th of September 2020. This event was hosted by the IAIN Kendari in cooperation with Southeast Asia Academic Mobility (SSEAM).

The theme of this conference was “transdisciplinary research” through an integration of previously divided disciplines such as natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, science and technology, and Islamic studies. The conference brought together English teachers, lecturers and students to exchange their perspectives and ideas on the best practices for teaching the English language in Indonesia, focusing on all three aspects of reading, comprehending and writing the language.

The research discusses the challenges and complexity involved in teaching the English language and literature in Indonesia from a 21^st-century standpoint.
