This collection contains selected papers from the International Conference on Environmental, Social and Governance (ICESG 2022) held in Kuching, Malaysia on 1st – 2nd December 2022. This event was hosted by Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. The conference invited researchers, academics, educators, practitioners, and consultants within the field of environmental and social governance to discuss and debate some of the latest innovations in the theory and practice of sustainable living.
The KnE Social Sciences collection contains 52 peer-reviewed articles based on papers presented at this conference, exploring sustainability through people, planet and profit. This collection offers insights into the multifaceted definitions of sustainability, beyond the mainstream understanding of work within the field of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), exclusively dedicated to the protection of natural resources. The articles discuss strategic technological solutions and approaches to countering threats of inequality, injustice, and stagnation within existing systems of power. Scholars explore models of change that reflect sustainable solutions in every domain of social life, emphasising the integral role of leaders in these spaces whether in government buildings, workplaces, universities, schools, home life, or the human psyche. By approaching sustainable solutions through a multipronged approach, this collection offers revolutionary insights into the ways that institutional and individual members of society can continue to play a part in changing our world for the better.
