This collection contains selected articles from the The 8th Legal International Conference and Studies (LICS 2025)  held in Semarang, Indonesia on 18-19 June 2025. This event was hosted by the Universitas Islam Sultan Agung Semarang (UNISSULA).

The conference was held to explore new advances in legal solutions for protecting vulnerable communities, with a particular emphasis on environmental justice, human rights, and climate law, among other topics.

This KnE Social Sciences issue contains 50 peer-reviewed articles that focus on key topics relating to the special issue theme, including new government initiatives in advancing legal and policy solutions that support environmental sustainability, protect human rights, and promote responsible resource management in the face of an escalating global crisis. This special issue also examines how legal frameworks can integrate human rights principles to promote environmental justice and ensure a fair distribution of environmental benefits and burdens. By applying criminal sanctions against drug crimes, implementing laws for AI abuse and challenges regarding social media
