KnE Social Sciences / International Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences

This collection contains selected papers from the International Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences (ICHSS 2021) held in Bekasi, Indonesia on October 26th-27th 2021. This event was hosted by the Faculty of Humanities at President University in Indonesia.

This conference was held to discuss the latest research bridging across topics in the humanities and social sciences. Key themes included identity and perceptions thereof, conflict and acceptance, and how we can move forward from COVID-19 in ways that support people’s wellbeing and the economy.

This KnE Social Sciences collection contains 14 peer-reviewed papers and 2 abstracts on the humanities and social sciences, conducted in or about Indonesia, Japan, China and the Middle East. Researchers investigate a wide range of topics from effective teaching practices, and policies promoting food security and sustainability, to religious extremism and tolerance, and how literature and the media can be analysed to understand social conditions and public discourse. COVID-19, as the omnipresent threat, is a common factor in this research, with studies evaluating responses to the pandemic, and examining the impact of COVID-19 on development projects, tourism, education and the economy.

These papers will be of interest to academics, students or professionals researching or working on topics in the humanities and social sciences such as education, development, English literature, public health, tourism, economics, security, radicalism, communication, and other social, political and cultural fields.
