This collection contains selected papers from the 2nd International Scientific Meeting on Public Health and Sports (ISMoPHS 2020), held in Malang, Indonesia on the 7th of October 2020. This event was hosted by the Department of Public Health, Faculty of Sport Science, Universitas Negeri Malang.

The theme of this conference was “Facing Challenges and Opportunities to Improve Health and Well-being to Advance the Sustainable Development Goals”. Accordingly, the conference provided an interdisciplinary platform for researchers, educators and practitioners from Indonesia and across the region to share and discuss the most recent innovations, research findings, trends and concerns in the fields of public health and sport science, to work towards finding practical solutions to advance the Sustainable Development Goals both nationally and globally.

This KnE Life Sciences collection contains 39 peer-reviewed papers. Studies discuss how to effectively prevent, detect and treat a range of infectious and chronic diseases and other health issues including stunting, maternal mortality and workplace injuries. Other topics include the promotion of healthy behaviours such as exclusive breastfeeding and attending prenatal classes; and methods to improve health centre logistics, documentation quality and employee performance. The nuances of individual and community perceptions of disease and injury are also considered.

These papers will be of interest to academics, students and professionals researching or working on all areas of public health and sport science.
