This collection contains selected papers from the international research conference Economies of the Balkan and Eastern European Countries (EBEEC) held online on the 14th-16th of May 2021. This event was hosted by the Department of Finance and Accounting, International Hellenic University in Kavala, Greece and the Neapolis University Pafos, Cyprus.

The conference was held to discuss the issues of the economic crisis, along with its effects on European economies and societies, especially in Southeastern Europe, and the problems in the banking sector as well as in the sphere of finance.

This KnE Social Sciences collection contains 20 peer-reviewed papers. Topics include decision-making in the adoption of economic policies, development of economic indicators and modelling, drivers of economic and employee performance and entrepreneurship, and the impact of the economic crisis and COVID-19. Some papers evaluate national economic policymaking and performance while others are focused on particular industries, ranging from the automotive, maritime and food, to health, ICT and tourism industries.

These papers will be of interest to academics, students and professionals researching or working on monetary policy, finance, banking, entrepreneurship, employment, health economics, innovation, rural development, tourism, or digitalization.
