This collection contains selected articles from the International Conference on Art, Design, Education and Cultural Studies (ICADECS) held in Kota Malang, Indonesia on 3 August 2023. This event was hosted by the Arts and Design Department, Faculty of Letters, Universitas Negeri Malang.

The conference was held to bring together researchers and practitioners to discuss the latest innovations in art and design approaches under the theme of “Reshaping Art, Design Education, & Culture for Freedom of Learning”.

This KnE Social Sciences collection contains 31 peer-review articles explores the evolution of creative industries and their influences on other facets of society. Articles in this collection identify the different ways that artists and design educators work to simultaneously preserve culture and heritage while developing innovative design models. While traditional art can embody the spirit and history of a people and support the economic development of a nation through cultural tourism and the exporting of traditional art pieces, modern design models digitalise design education and offer artists the skills needed to produce at a more efficient rate, thereby providing quicker and potentially more lucrative contributions to the creative economy. Scholars in this collection work to offer a synergy of these perspectives that could uplift any creative industry within their nation and beyond.

This collection contains selected papers from the 8th Sriwijaya Economics, Accounting, and Business Conference (8th SEABC 2023) held in Palembang, Indonesia, on September 28-29, 2023. This event was hosted by the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Sriwijaya.

This conference was held to bring together researchers, academics, and policymakers to share their ideas and insights to formulate the best solution to restore the global economy from the COVID-19 pandemic. It is intended to offer a greater comprehension of contemporary business and economic concerns, particularly those pertaining to sustainability, digitalization, and recovery.

This KnE Social Sciences collection contains 59 peer-reviewed articles. The collection addresses the social sciences through three major thematic strands: economics, management, and accounting. Each theme is explored through both practical case studies and theoretical frameworks. The first type of research deals with management, which covers financial management, marketing management, human resource management, and entrepreneurship. The second, economics, covers economics in public, monetary, industrial, human resource, development economics, regional economics, agricultural economics, and Islamic economics. Furthermore, it also covers accounting in the financial and public sectors, accounting management, taxation, information systems, auditing, forensic accounting, business ethics, and sustainability. Collectively, these articles contribute to the broader discussions around a deeper understanding of current economic and business issues, especially those related to recovery, digitization, and sustainability.

IAPA 2023 Annual International Conference

This special issue contains selected papers from the Indonesian Association for Public Administration Annual International Conference held in Padang, Indonesia on 26th-27th October 2023. This event was hosted by the Indonesian Association for Public Administration in collaboration with the Faculty of Social and Political Science, Universitas Andalas.

The conference was held to investigate the role of New Public Governance (NPG) models on Indonesia’s public administration systems. By bringing together leaders in the field, the conference explored this new model as a potential solution for the country’s strained public sector and social inequalities.

This KnE Social Sciences issue contains 48 peer-review articles on collaborative governance, state and non-state partnerships, and the impact of public administration on the fabric of society. As a middle-income country, Indonesia maintains a vibrant democratic system that serves to support its multi-ethnic population to the best of its capacity. Scholars in this issue analyse the different means by which the country has managed to achieve such status in an otherwise turbulent world by exploring its adoption of the NPG model of governance and working to increase collaboration between state and non-state actors. This collection contains selected papers from the 6th International Conference on Education and Social Science Research (ICESRE) held in Semarang, Indonesia, on 5 October 2023. This event was hosted by Institute of Research and Community Service at Universitas PGRI Semarang.
