The Sudan Journal of Medical Sciences (SJMS) is actively seeking to appoint new members to its Editorial Board. 

We welcome interest from researchers who have expertise in diverse medical fields, including:

  1. All Clinical medicine fields, such as Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hematology, Oncology, Infectious Disease, Nephrology, Neurology, and Pulmonary Medicine
  2. All Surgical disciplines include General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Pediatric Surgery, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
  3. Obstetrics and Gynecology
  4. All Pediatric specialties
  5. Anesthesia and Critical Care


What We Look For in Candidates
Candidates must:

  1. Possess a minimum of six (6) published research papers in respected, English-language, peer-reviewed journals
  2. Be listed as a corresponding author (either first or last) on at least four (4) of these publications.
  3. Have a publication record with no more than one case report among these papers
  4. Hold an MD or equivalent degree in their area of speciality


Expectations and Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the journal’s ethical guidelines, scope, and editorial standards
  • Act as an advocate for SJMS in the scientific community
  • Offer professional and supportive interactions with our authors, ensuring that manuscripts meet the journal's standards and are processed efficiently through peer review


Specific duties include:

  1. Evaluating manuscripts for their suitability for review, engaging appropriate reviewers who align with the journal's standards, and making recommendations based on the reviewers’ feedback and their own evaluations
  2. Managing at least 8 manuscripts annually across various disciplines within their field of expertise
  3. Ensuring the recruitment of (8) eight active reviewers for each manuscript handled
  4. Participating in training sessions provided by SJMS, with additional support from our in-house editorial staff


**We are also seeking a Social Media Editor to manage accounts and create visual abstracts for our published manuscripts. **

Editorial Board Members will report to our in-house editor and play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of our journal.
