This issue contains selected papers from the IV International Congress of Engineering - Faculty of Mechanics 2021 held in Riobamba, Ecuador on the 6^th–9^th of December 2021. This event was organized by the Higher Polytechnic School of Chimborazo.

The conference was held to bring together researchers and practitioners to discuss the recent technological advances and innovations in the field of engineering.

This ESPOCH issue is a collection of 12 peer-reviewed articles. Several papers examine the urgent need for safety improvement in automotive vehicles and the means of maintenance for vehicle fleets and analyze the strength of safety railings used on highways. Others discuss the importance of drinking water quality and the new designs and production methods for packaging water drums.

These papers will be of interest to academics, students or professionals researching or working in the fields of engineering, research and technology.
