UNNES International Conference on Research Innovation and Commercialization 2018

The 2nd 2018 UNNES International Conference on Research Innovation and Commercialization (UICRIC) for Better Life was organised by the Research and Community Development Institute (RCDI) with the aim of transforming the vision of Universitas Negeri Semarang of becoming an international Conservation University into reality. The conference aimed to increase the number of research publication and improving the academic atmosphere through the improvement of research quality so that the results of the research are known to the public and can be produced massively as part of the improvement of the people’s life quality and prosperity. The scope of the research clusters in this international conference includes educational innovation, science and technology, resource and life quality improvement, conservation, and arts, culture, and humanity.

International Conference on Meaningful Education (ICMEd)

The International Conference on Meaningful Education (ICMEd) 2018 was held on 25–26 October 2018, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, in conjunction with the International Conference on Special and Inclusive Education (ICSIE) 2018. This conference was organised by the Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The theme of the conference was “Developing Meaningful Education to Realise Just and Equitable Societies.” Meaningful education has emerged as a "new" paradigm in the educational field that emphasizes the character and personality formation of students. This kind of education is believed as an effective strategy to develop graduates who both master the required knowledge and skills and also have good moral that brings benefit to society and maintain human dignity.
Thus, this conference aimed to bring together academicians, practitioners, and independent researchers around the world from educational fields to share and exchange their knowledge, practices, and research results on areas related to education, particularly meaningful education. They were invited to present abstracts/papers relevant to the theme/subthemes including but not limited to Curriculum and Instruction, Teachers Professional, Development, Educational Leadership and Policy, Innovation in Education, Early Childhood and Primary Education, Guidance and Counseling in School, and Educational Technology. The conference also provided an interdisciplinary forum for participants to present and discuss current innovations, developments, challenges, as well as potential solutions to issues related to the practices of meaningful education at all education level. This conference encouraged the implementation of meaningful education as a part of strategies to improve education quality, equality, and equity. Further, this event provided direction for future research on education, particularly on meaningful education that we believe is important to provide useful information for educational policymakers, system administrators, leaders, and educators. Ultimately, we hope that this conference can contribute to the creation of a better society in general and the development of educational studies and practices in particular.

The First Economics, Law, Education and Humanities International Conference (The First ELEHIC)

Social Sciences on Sustainable Development for World Challenge

The First ELEHIC conference provided a forum to address the issues on Economic, Law, Education, and Humanities that researchers, practitioners, and academics face in the changing world. The first international conference was organized by the four faculties at Bung Hatta University, namely the Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Education, and Faculty of Humanities. The conference received papers from academics and researchers from Indonesia and other countries.  Accepted papers were presented as oral presentations in a 30-minute session.

The theme of the conference was Social Sciences on Sustainable Development for World Challenge. Around 100 papers on the aforementioned four fields were accepted to be presented at the conference. The participants came from universities in Indonesia and other neighbouring countries such as Malaysia and the Philippines.

The 2nd International Conference on Islamic Economics, Business, and Philanthropy (2nd ICIEBP)

The 1st ICIEBP was successfully held on 26th November at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) Bandung, Indonesia, and it was entitled, “Rethinking Sustainability from an Islamic Perspective Transforming Economy and Societies.” Considering the wide range of participants, the Conference attendees gained vital insights into Islamic economics in the different viewpoints. The information regarding the 1st ICIEBP, in which 165 papers were presented, can be retrieved from iciebp.conference.upi.edu.

To maintain the continuity of the Islamic economics conference, especially in discussing current issues, building a network, and sharing knowledge among scholars, it is important to organize a regular conference in Islamic economic area. The Department of Islamic Economics, Faculty of Economic and Business, Universitas Airlangga, in collaboration with the Department of Islamic Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business Education, UPI proudly presents “The 2nd International Conference on Islamic Economics, Business, and Philanthropy (ICIEBP), successfully held on 22 November 2018 in Surabaya, Indonesia. The main theme of this conference was “Sustainability and Socio-Economic Growth.” The conference elaborated on how a nation can achieve economic growth and at the same time solve socio-economic problems such as poverty. In addition, Islamic perspective as a new and emergent area has demonstrated an unprecedented performance in terms of transforming the Muslim societies and beyond.

Empowering Educational Human Resources for Global Competitiveness

This conference is the realization of the vision and mission of Bung Hatta University. The vision of Bung Hatta University is to be an excellent higher-education institution that has dignity in order to be a world-class university, and its mission is to carry out quality education and researches in a democratic climate that upholds academic freedom and apply science, technology, arts, and cultures to improve human welfare. In order to support the realization of the Bung Hatta University vision and mission as well as to accelerate international accreditation, the Faculty of Teachers Training and Education held the first national seminar in 2017, and this second seminar on education was conducted internationally. The aim of this conference was to motivate the lecturers of the Faculty of Teachers Training and Education and domestic as well as foreign graduate students in related fields to publish their research results on an international level. This seminar is entitled the 1st International Conference on Educational Science and Training 2018.

3rd UNJ International Conference on Technical and Vocational Education and Training 2018 (3rd ICTVET 2018)

The 3rd International Conference on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ICTVET 2018) was organized by the Universitas Negeri Jakarta for the third time on 19–21 October 2018 as a forum for researchers, academics, students, and professionals in this field to meet and share their ideas and experience.  

The 3rd ICTVET 2018 had the theme: ‘Technical & Vocational Education Training on the Industrial Revolution 4.0’. Innovation in education, industry, vocational education, and its various supporting elements are expected to provide answers to the Industrial Revolution 4.0 challenges. The Industrial Revolution 4.0 makes information technology as the backbone of communication, distribution channels, and competitive weapon in the global community. Indonesia, whose potential lies in its population, abundant natural resources, and strategic geographical position, must encourage innovation to confront the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in the Asia-Pacific region. This conference specializes in topics related to Vocational Education and Training, Engineering, and Innovation Industry.

International Conference on Economics, Education, Business and Accounting (3rd ICEEBA)

The 3rd ICEEBA (International Conference on Economics, Education, Business and Accounting) was held on 25–27 October 2018 in Bali, Indonesia (The Patra Bali Resort and Villas, JL. Ir. H. Juanda, South Kuta Beach Kuta, Tuban, Badung Regency, Bali). The conference was hosted by three universities, namely Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Universitas Negeri Malang, and Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha Bali, in cooperation with the APE-LPTK (Asosiasi Pendidikan Ekonomi, Lembaga Pendidikan Tinggi Kependidikan) or the Association of Economic Education, Educational Higher Education Institution (in English). The theme of the 3rd ICEEBA 2018 conference was: The Awakening of the 4th Industrial Revolution: How to Manage Competitiveness and Collaboration? The aim of this conference was to bring together researchers, educators, scholars, scientists, economists, practitioners, graduate students, and entrepreneur to exchange and share their knowledge, innovations, and discuss research. All full paper submissions to the 3rd ICEEBA 2018 were required to be written in English and were sent to at least two reviewers and evaluated based on originality, technical or research content or depth, correctness, relevance to the conference, contributions, and readability. The four scopes of the conference were: Economics, Economics Education, Business & Management, and Accounting. Prospective authors were cordially invited to submit the full papers for oral presentation. This event had three keynote speakers, who come from different backgrounds and expertise and a lot of experience and knowledge. They were Associate Professor Ferry Jie, PhD (Edith Cowan University, Australia), an expert in Supply Chain and Logistics Management; Drs. Heri Yanto, MBA, PhD (Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia) an expert in Business Ethics, Business Administration, and Accounting Scholarship; and Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Rizal Palil (The National University of Malaysia) an expert in Accounting, Financial Accounting, Economic Policy Analysis, and Financial Statement Analysis.

International Seminar on Language, Education, and Culture (ISoLEC)

The International Seminar on Language, Education, and Culture (ISoLEC) is held annually and sponsored by the Faculty of Letters, Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia. This seminar was initiated by four of five departments—English, Arabic, German, and Art Design—existing in the Faculty of Letters. It aims at improving the number of publication by lecturers and researchers, from within the Universitas Negeri Malang or without, domestic and abroad alike. The seminar was first launched in 2017, and will periodically be held on an annual basis in years to come. The seminar invites papers resulted from studies conducted in the field of language, education, and culture in the broadest sense in order to assemble all of those who share the same academic interest and to disseminate the most recent research findings applicable to the learning process in the university; it is able to affect social transformation and policy change with regard to the fields concerned. The specific theme addressed in each seminar is determined based on the need and recent development relevant to the issues of language, education, and culture. Prominent international scholars and researchers are invited to give keynote speeches that further sparks studies in the related fields. Papers submitted to the seminar are peer-reviewed by a number of international reputable scholars and researchers to guarantee not only the quality but also the recentness of topics being discussed as to catch up with the latest academic development related to language, education, and culture. In the end, the seminar hopes that all works collected and published will serve as one of the references that scholars and researchers can use to conduct their future research so that they are able to offer both theoretical and practical contribution to the more respected academic discourse, social transformation, and policy change in terms of language, education, and culture not only in Indonesia but also internationally.

The Economies of the Balkan and the Eastern European Countries in the changing World (EBEEC 2018)

The annual conference of 'The Economies of the Balkan and the Eastern European Countries in the changing World' (EBEEC) reflects on the economic and social changes that have taken place in recent years. The issues of the economic crisis, along with its effects on the European economies and societies, especially in Southeastern Europe, and the problems in the banking sector as well as in the sphere of finance were the main concerns of the scientists participating in the conference and wished to express their views on these issues. EBEEC has managed to establish itself as a major scientific event in the academia because of the broader region covered by the scope of the conference, and it is an essential forum for discussing economic and social developments in Southeastern Europe. It has become a benchmark for any scientist who wants to keep in track with the economic developments in the region, form an opinion about the current scientific knowledge and get an insight into the policies implemented or those that should be applied to improve the economic conditions in individual economies. More than 100 papers were presented in EBEEC 2018 in Warsaw, Poland, from several countries. The papers published in this volume have been chosen by the scientific committee of the conference and the review process was followed.
