Abstract

The purpose of this paper was to learn about culture and character values in elementary school students’ language learning. This topic was chosen due to the problems that Indonesians are facing in this era, such as a decline in people’s morals and character, both in society and in government. Character development should begin at a young age, during the learning process in elementary school. As a result, character development has become one of the most important issues that the Government is concerned about these days. We conducted a literature review of the cultural and character values implied in children’s literature, as well as on the importance of instilling character values in elementary school students. The conclusion of this article is that children’s literature is one of the media that parents and teachers can use to help children develop cultural and character values.
