The Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research proudly celebrates 10 years of researching education in the United Arab Emirates, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and beyond. Its dedication to advancing knowledge and understanding of education and social policy continues with the 2019 launch of its journal, the Gulf Education and Social Policy Review.

The Gulf Education and Social Policy Review seeks to support scholarship in the region, addressing the dissemination gap and encouraging critical, data-driven reflection, evaluation, and contextualization of the myriad factors, influences, and rapid reforms that are taking place in the Gulf’s complex developmental landscapes. The journal supports emerging regional academics, presents the Gulf region as a fruitful area of study for established international scholars, and penetrates the silos of different educational actors to inform best practices and agendas worldwide. In line with this, the journal provides publishing support for local and regional conferences, including biannual meetings of the Gulf Comparative Education Society.

The Gulf Education and Social Policy Review is an open-access journal. In line with this, its publishing platform from Knowledge E is a part of the SHERPA/RoMEO database, and it is a RoMEO blue journal. As a RoMEO blue journal, the publisher’s versions and PDFs of articles are archived. Authors can post the publisher’s version and/or PDF on their websites, open-access repositories, PubMed Central, and arXiv. Authors may also enter into additional separate contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the archived publisher's version/PDF (e.g., publication in a book).

Authors retain their copyright and grant this journal the right of first publication. At the same time, the manuscript is published under a Creative Commons Attribution License, allowing “others [to] distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon [authors’] work, even commercially, as long as they credit [the authors] for the original creation” (Creative Commons, n.d.).

The journal also endorses the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals.
