Philip Graduated from the Institute of Psychiatry, London and then went on to hold a research post at the Max-Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich, Germany. He then spent several years in the pharmaceutical industry and subsequently moved into the scientific, technical and medical publishing field, joining Thomson Reuters in the year 2000. Philip specialized in research evaluation and has advised universities, government research institutions and funding bodies across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia on strategies to evaluate their research output and performance. He also prioritized hundreds of regional journals for inclusion in the Emerging Sources Citation Index. At knowledge E, Philip’s role includes overseeing editorial selection, production and implementation of publishing industry standards to the KnE Publishing platform.

Mohamad Mostafa

Publishing Editor

Mohamad Mostafa holds a B.Sc. degree in Physics from Menoufia University, Egypt. He has a wide experience in Open Access (OA) and scholarly publishing through his current position at Knowledge E and his prior experience with Hindawi Publishing. In August 2017, Mohamad conceived and developed a new initiative named ‘Think. Check. Attend.’ the main goal of which is to help researchers choose the right conference to attend and present their research papers. He was nominated as the Crossref Ambassador (for the Middle East region) in March 2018. He participated in the ORCID reviewer team to provide the Arabic interface, also providing the first translation of the Think. Check. Submit. initiative into a non-English language (now available in +30 languages) and has delivered workshops in both Arabic & English to researchers, librarians, and journal editors at different universities across the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Egypt.

Deepti Thapa

Production & Copy Editor

Deepti holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Law College Dehradun, India. She has more than 4 years of experience as an Academic Copy Editor. She began working on legal journals for several University Presses in 2012, and then eventually got into full-fledged publishing in 2014. Prior to joining Knowledge E, Deepti was working with SAGE Publishing, India, where she QCed journal manuscripts and was actively involved in the book-publishing process. She has edited several academic/research books for SAGE Publishing, written by some of the celebrated authors in India. She specializes in editing and structuring scientific manuscripts and books and preparing them for publication. At Knowledge E, Deepti’s role involves pre-auditing and analyzing the manuscript, preparing an editorial style sheet for each project, copyediting the content, raising queries and making appropriate suggestions to the author, ensuring that the style guides are adhered to and that the sources are verified, and then finally publishing the content on the KnE Publishing platform. She is also in-charge of submitting KnE journals and conference series to various indexing databases.

Leila Elizabeth Kardan

Publishing Executive

Leila Elizabeth Kardan is the publishing executive at Knowledge E. She serves as key contact person with clients for managing the conference proceedings and journal publication process in the Knowledge E publishing platform. She works closely with the Project manager and technical back end to coordinate various stages of the production. She joined Knowledge E in December 2015 as Publishing Coordinator. She worked as an English Teacher at a public senior high school as part of the Japanese Government’s largest cultural exchange programme for 3 years. She presented workshops for 2 years at the Teaching Skills Development Seminar for ALTs (Assistant Language Teachers) and JTEs (Japanese Teachers of English) in Toyama. She has published multiple lesson plans in an annual lesson compendium aimed at improving Team-Teaching efforts in Toyama as well as writing recipes in the Toyama AJET chapter magazine. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Film and Media from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, UK.

Therese Bill

Office Manager

Therese Bill joined Knowledge E in April 2016 as Office Manager. She has more than five years’ experience in Dubai and has worked in both Latvia and Sweden before moving to the UAE. Therese holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from Stockholm School of Business in Sweden as well as degree in real estate. At Knowledge E she is the head of the administrative team. Her duties include, but are not limited to, publishing press releases as well as being in charge of various marketing activities such as managing the corporate social media pages.

Marlu Tampus

IT Support/Web Developer

Marlu Tampus joined Knowledge E in June 2014 as IT Support/Web Developer. He has more than 4 years of experience in the IT industry in the Philippines and in Dubai. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Information Technology from the University of Cebu – LapuLapu and Mandaue. His roles in KnowledgeE covers developing and maintaining KnE Publishing Platform, KnowledgeE Website and KnE Digital Library Platforms.

Somin Gajjar

Accountant and Financial Controller

Somin Gajjar joined Knowledge E in June 2016, as an Accountant and Financial Controller. He served as a Finance Assistant for 2 years in India with a finance consultancy firm. In 2013, he moved to Dubai and worked as an accountant in a media firm. Somin secured a Master's Degree in Business Management Studies governed by All India Council of Technical Education(AICTE) from Mumbai, India. His expertise in Accounting, Credit control, Financial Modeling/Analysis and Banking.

Pippa Smart

Publishing Adviser

Pippa is a research communication and publishing consultant and founder of PSP Consulting. She has worked in academic and research publishing for almost 25 years for range of publishers, and in over 25 countries. She provides a variety of consultancy services to publishers and editorial groups, including advising publishers on the development of their publishing programmes, contract negotiation, developing and running training programmes independently and in conjunction with other organisations (mostly on editorial skills, journal business development and copyright), providing industry updates to companies and groups. Pippa also writes a monthly newsletter on the publishing industry for the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) which is read by over 1,000 publishers around the world. Pippa is also the Editor-in-Chief of Learned Publishing. Pippa has provided valuable guidance and support to Knowledge E for its KnE Publishing Platform on publication ethics, editorial policies, copyright standards and guidelines.
