This collection contains selected papers from the International Conference on Islamic Economy and Halal Industry (ICIEHI), held in Malang, Indonesia, on 30 July 2019. This event was hosted by the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Negeri Malang & Halal Center, Universiti Putra Malaysia.

The halal sector possesses significant economic potential, with a wide range of businesses involved in the production and delivery of a diverse array of goods and services. This conference was held to exchange new academic research on the rapidly growing halal industry, specifically that in Malaysia and Indonesia but also across the world more generally, and generate new strategies to stimulate further development. 

This collection contains 38 peer-reviewed papers on various themes and commercial considerations linked with the halal industry. Topics in the collection include Islamic law and philanthropy, Islamic banking and other financial services, education in Islamic economics, and halal approaches to business, food, science, tourism, manufacturing, and marketing.

These papers will be of interest to academics, students and professionals researching Muslim economies and businesses, economic practises and financial services, food sciences, and tourism.
