A vessel that has been registered can be used as collateral for debt by means of a mortgage imposition on the vessel, it can also be subject to other property rights. The stages and conditions for registering ships in Indonesia are based on the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation Number PM 39 of 2017. Applications are submitted to ship registrar officials, accompanied by various documents. Information is also required from the applicant demonstrating that the ship is an Indonesian ship according to the 311 Commercial Code. Further documents are required for determination of the nationality of the ship.
